 We do not know why the camel base, whose scientific name is Monstera Deliciosa, passed into Turkish in this way, but in Latin it is described as Monstera, which means monster, on the other hand, Deliciosa is completed as pleasant and delicious. Just based on its naming, it seems possible to say that the cameltoe is a huge, giant beauty.

 Camel base with heart leaves is one of the plants frequently found in homes. At the same time, the camel base leaf is in perforated form. For this reason, it is also known as the Swiss Cheese Plant.

When considered by definition, it can be said that it is a plant with a long stem and dark green color, leathery texture, deeply fragmented and oval perforated palm. It is a decorative plant that can grow up to 60 cm, with large, showy and shiny leaves.

 Although visually many people know about this plant, it is not known that the name of this beautiful plant was the cameltoe. This flower, which is very common in our country, decorates our mothers' salons for years. With the rise of return to nature in homes in recent years, cameltoe printing has become popular in household items such as many plates, tablecloths, pillow covers, curtains and runners. However, it has been an extremely flashy alternative for those who like to grow plants in their homes.

Camel base is a tropical plant with large green leaves. Hawaii and Seychelles are their natural habitats, but in our country they are generally grown as salon plants. The fact that it comes from the tropical climate, especially for regions with high winter cold and low humidity, is not suitable for growing in the garden.

 In our country, the coastal strip of the Mediterranean Region and the regions of the Aegean Region that do not receive much wind are suitable for raising camel soles. Let's come to those who want to grow Camel base in pots as a living room plant.

 Irrigation

 Irrigation is of course very important for your camel base. The water of the camel base plant should not be too cold. If you irrigate using very cold water, your tropical plant will be damaged. During irrigation, it is recommended not to use the water that you fill directly from the fountain, and to use lime-free water that has been rested for a while. However, the frequency of irrigation should progress in proportion to the temperature of the air.

 Watering can be done every day on very hot summer days, but water should be given by controlling the soil moisture in winter. If sufficient moisture cannot be provided in the summer months, the leaves can be watered with a fissure.

 When the cold weather is felt better such as November, December and January, you can switch to a rest period by watering your plant less.

 The camel base should be positioned in a semi-shade place inside the house. Since it will tend towards sunlight, an even growth can be achieved by constantly rotating the direction of the pot. It is not recommended to take the sun directly. It should be protected from the hot sun, especially at noon.

 Because it is a tropical plant, the camel base, which loves temperature, needs about 15-18 degrees in winter. A drop in temperature to single digits will pose a threat to the plant.

 Compost fertilizer can be given to the plant twice a month in the middle of spring and autumn.

Soil Care

Camel base should be grown in normal garden soil with peat or sand.

 The camel base does not like limited spaces, so its pot should be large. When you come home, you should definitely plant a camel base that you bought from outside in a large flower pot. Pot change can be done every 2-3 years.

 The large leaves of your camel base plant are extremely showy, but when these leaves become dusty, it is recommended to wipe them with a damp cloth. The camel base, whose leaves are cleaned, is very successful in preventing diseases and continues to develop in a healthy way.

 You should protect your plant from cold wind, especially in winter. It should not be in places with air flow such as door openings.

 Camel base can grow too much if conditions are suitable. If you want to slow the growth of your plant a little, you can prune your plant. In this way, the plant will expand sideways. You should not touch the roots while pruning.

 How Is It Reproduced?

 There are many methods for propagating a camel base. The most common of these are known as crest steels, auger body steels or dipping method.

 If you want to reproduce using crest cuttings, you should wait for this process to start in summer. In June, cut off the end shoots to contain a mature leaf and slice it into a soil mixed with sand and peat. As you approach a month, your cuttings will start to take root. If you are in a region where the summer comes later, you can wait for the month of July for this process, as the ambient temperature should not drop below 25 degrees during this process.

Another method is to reproduce it with auger stem steel, which you will make by cutting steel so that there is at least one eye from the plant body.  These cuttings, which are expected to be rooted within a month, can be taken from the plant during the summer.  Temperature is still very important.

 There is no need to wait for the summer months to reproduce by immersion method.  In January, you can lay one of the shoots on the rooting pillow and cover the peat on it.  Ambient temperature should not be lower than room temperature.  Roots will occur from the knuckles between about 3 weeks and 1 month.  In the next process, new rooted plants can be obtained by cutting the knuckle

 My plant's leaves aren't growing enough
